Vance Introduces Legislation Requiring CPR Certification of School Nurses

HARRISBURG – School nurses would need to be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) under legislation introduced today by Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"Although many school nurses are certified in CPR, not all are," Vance said.

Senate Bill 234 amends the amends the Public School Code to compel all school nurses to be certified in CPR.  The legislation would also have school nurses complete recertification training in a time frame established by a Department of Health approved certifying agency.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
