FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fifteen Residents Awarded Alternative Fuels Grants, Vance AnnouncesHARRISBURG – Fifteen residents of the 31st Senatorial District recently were awarded Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "I commend those who are receiving grants for their commitment to the environment," Vance said. "Every step we take to improve air and water quality protects our Commonwealth for generations to come." The Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program was created to reduce the Commonwealth's dependence on imported oil, improve the Commonwealth's environmental quality and foster economic development by encouraging the transfer and commercialization of innovative energy technologies and the use of fuels indigenous to the Commonwealth. Projects eligible for funding include purchase of alternative fuel vehicles, converting or repowering existing vehicles to operate on an alternative fuel, purchasing and installing alternative fuel refueling facilities, purchasing and installing recharging facilities, and developing and evaluating innovative alternative fuel vehicles and developing refueling or recharging facilities. Robert Walters of New Cumberland was awarded a $700 grant. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
