Cumberland County Solid Waste Authority Awarded Grant, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – A $28,464 grant recently was awarded to the Cumberland County Solid Waste Authority as part of the Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"The household hazardous waste collection events have been highly successful in Cumberland County since they began in 1998," Vance said. "Almost 400 tons of materials have been dropped off and disposed of properly preventing potential environmental contamination. By making grant money available, the cost associated with holding these important events is reduced."

The grant will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
