FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sewage Planning Grants Awarded to Three Municipalities, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – More than $18,000 in Sewage Facilities Planning Grants recently were awarded to Carroll, Hampden and Monroe townships, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "This grant program works to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents by helping to cover the cost of having an up-to-date sewage plan," Vance said. "Untreated or improperly treated sewage spreads disease. It is vital steps are taken to avoid this problem." Carroll Township received a $2,743 a Sewage Facilities Planning Grant. Monroe Township was awarded a $4,733 grant, and Hampden Township received a $10,859 grant. Sewage Facilities Planning Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of the cost of preparing the official sewage plan and revisions to official plans for sewage systems required by the state's Sewage Facilities Program. The program, enacted in 1966, requires that every municipality in the state develop and maintain an up-to-date sewage facilities plan. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
