Sewage Facilities Grant Awarded to Franklin Township, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – A $2,850 Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently was awarded to Franklin Township, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"It is always helpful to take steps to prevent pollution," Vance said. "This grant makes sure septic systems meet uniform standards thus reducing the chances of contamination."

Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for performing state sewage regulations outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community onlot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
