FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Hampden Township Receives Grant to Remove Storage Tanks, Vance AnnouncesHARRISBURG – A $4,344 Underground Storage Tank Pollution Prevention Grant recently was awarded to Hampden Township, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "Pollution prevention is essential to maintaining the environment for years to come," Vance said. "By properly disposing of substances from underground storage tanks, hazardous leaks are averted." The grant will be used to reimburse the cost to drain, clean and dispose of the contents of two underground storage tanks at a property in the 6600 block of Wertzville Road, Enola. The Underground Storage Tank Pollution Prevention Grant program provides grants up to $2,500 to eligible tank owners of underground storage tanks in order to pump the tank and dispose of regulated product, clean the insides of the tank, and if the tank will be put into temporary closure, plug the fill pipe. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
