FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sewage Facilities Grants Awarded to Three Townships, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – More than $2,100 in Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently were awarded to Middlesex, South Newton and Upper Frankford townships, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "This grant helps septic systems meet uniform standards, which in turn aids with preventing possible contamination that can damage the environment," Vance said. "In addition, the grants assist municipalities with the financial burden of enforcing system requirements." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for performing state sewage regulations. Middlesex Township received $704. South Newton Township was awarded $425, and Upper Frankford Township received $1,070. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community onlot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
