Vance Announces West Shore EMS Awarded Alternative Fuel Grant

HARRISBURG – West Shore EMS recently received a $9,288 Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant to operate 25 emergency vehicles with a blend of biodiesel and diesel fuel, says Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"Emergency medical services are vital to the health and safety of a community," Vance said. "Unfortunately, most of the vehicles used to provide this important service operate on diesel. With this grant, West Shore EMS will be able to operate its fleet in a more environmentally friendly way."

The Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Program provides financial assistance and information on alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, hybrid vehicles, anti-idling technologies that use alternatives to diesel fuel for heavy duty trucks, and advanced vehicle technology research, development, and demonstration.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
