Lower Allen Township Authority Awarded Growing Greener Grant, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – Lower Allen Township Authority recently received a $336,500 New or Innovative Water/Wastewater Technology Grant under Growing Greener, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

The grant will be used to establish solids generation rates and renewable energy production rate conditions to identify, design and permit selected renewable energy and solids processing technology.

"This grant not only will improve sewer treatment by the authority, but also expand technology," Vance said. "Although it important to stay current with technology, it is also very costly. I'm pleased we were able to assist financially with this upgrade."

The New or Innovative Water/Wastewater Technology Grant Program is part of the Environmental Stewardship Fund under Growing Greener. It provides grants for existing drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities through the use of new or innovative technology. New or innovative refers to drinking water and wastewater treatment technology, and sewer collection/conveyance system improvement technology that is commercially available but has not yet been widely used in Pennsylvania, and provides advantages over conventional technology.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
