Three Conservation Partnership Grants Awarded, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – Almost $375,000 in Community Conservation Partnership Program (CCPP) grants recently were awarded in Cumberland County, announced Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly voiced support last year at the ballot box for continuation of the Commonwealth's Growing Greener program to assist efforts to protect the environment and preserve open space and farmland," Vance said. "One of the areas Growing Greener funding goes to is the Community Conservation Partnership Program. Through open space and recreation lands, Pennsylvanians are encouraged to become active."

The grants awarded were:

  • $176,000 to Lower Allen Township for acquisition of about three acres of Linsenbach Parkland property off Gettysburg Road for green space and passive recreation.
  • $150,000 to South Middleton Township for acquisition of about 56 acres from the Leaman farm along Park Drive and the Yellow Breeches Creek for trail expansion, open space and recreation.
  • $48,700 to Trout Unlimited Cumberland Valley Chapter for acquisition of about 11 acres along South Spring Garden Street and the LeTort Spring Run in South Middleton Township for stream protection and public access.

The CCPP grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects. Funding for these projects comes from Growing Greener II and the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93).

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
