FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Vance Announces Three Townships Awarded Sewage Facilities GrantsHARRISBURG – More than $5,500 in Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently were awarded to Warrington, South Newton and Upper Frankford townships, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "While uniform standards for septic systems help prevent contamination of the environment, ensuring the standards are followed does not come without a cost," Vance said. "This grant program helps meet the financial burden municipalities undertake to make sure systems are in compliance." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for performing state sewage regulations. Warrington Township received $4,214. South Newton Township was awarded $704, and Upper Frankford Township received $681. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community onlot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
