Vance Appointed Chair of Aging and Youth Committee,

Named to Four Committees

HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York) recently was named chair of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee and was appointed to four other committees for the 2007-08 legislative session.

In addition to her chairmanship, she was appointed vice chair of the Public Health and Welfare Committee and a member of the Appropriations, Finance, and Law and Justice Committees. She also serves on the Capitol Preservation Committee and Intra-Governmental Council on Long-Term Care.

"As chair of the Aging and Youth Committee, I look forward to advancing legislation that is important to Pennsylvania children and seniors," Vance said. "As the Commonwealth has the third largest senior citizen population in the United States, we must be a leader on issues affecting older people."

The 2007-08 legislative session marks the second half of Vance's first term in the Senate. Last legislative session four Vance bills became law. The laws granted immunity to employers who respond in good faith with reference information on current or former employees (Act 3 of 2005); streamlined foreign adoption procedures (Act 96 of 2006); required nurses to obtain 30 hours of continuing education every two years (Act 56 of 2006); and blended the state's prescription drug program for low-income seniors with Medicare Part D (Act 111 of 2006).

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
