FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Christmas Tree Grower Spotlighted in Vance ProgramHARRISBURG – The December edition of the Vance Report will feature Strathmeyer Forests, Inc, located in Warrington Township, York County, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). For four generation Strathmeyers have been selling Christmas trees to area residents. While the first generation sold Christmas trees on the porch of the family grocery store in York, the business blossomed when the second and third generations began Strathmeyer Forests. For the past 75 years the family-owned company has been providing families, wholesalers and landscapers with evergreen stock and supplies." It was fascinating to learn the process that goes into growing evergreen trees," Vance said. "While most people focus on this type of trees in December, evergreens are popular for landscaping throughout the year. In fact, Strathmeyer provides the bagged seedlings that are distributed through many conservation districts in the state including the one in Cumberland County." Vance’s show airs on Blue Ridge Communications at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays on Channel 8. Comcast Cable that serves the Shippensburg area will air the program at 4 p.m. on Thursdays on Channel 21. Comcast Cable that serves the Carlisle area will air the show at the same time but on Channel 11. York Community Access shows the program at 9 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month on Channel 16. Finally, Comcast Cable in the Greater Harrisburg area will air the program on Channel 20 with no set time schedule. Vance’s district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
