Pollution Prevention Grant Awarded to Cumberland County, Vance Announces

HARRISBURG – A $9,567 Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant recently was awarded to Cumberland County for a collection event held last June at the Cumberland County Service Center, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"Since 1998 Cumberland County residents have showed their commitment to the environment through participation in this event," Vance said. "I encourage residents to participate in the other events held by the Recycling and Waste Authority. These include tire, appliance and consumer electronics recycling. On October 4 the county is assisting with a medication disposal event. More information is available on the county's Web site."

The grant will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event. The event was held June 6 and 7.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
