FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Candy Maker Spotlighted in Vance ReportHARRISBURG – The January edition of the Vance Report will focus on the Brittle Bark Company in Mechanicsburg, which has been making gourmet candy for five years, said host Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). Owned by Diane Krulac, the business has double and tripled its sales since its opening in 2003. Twenty varieties of brittle are made, which include fruits, nuts, popcorn, pretzels and chocolate. This past fall the business opened its own store at 215 W. Main Street, Mechanicsburg. Previously it was sold via wholesale. "Visiting Brittle Bark's kitchen is like going back in time as Diane and her employees do everything by hand," Vance said. "The carefully thought out process is evident in each delicious bite. With all the different varieties, Brittle Bark has candy to appeal to all tastes." Vance's show airs on Blue Ridge Communications at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays on Channel 8. Comcast Cable that serves the Shippensburg area will air the program at 4 p.m. on Thursdays on Channel 21. Comcast Cable that serves the Carlisle area will air the show at the same time but on Channel 11. York Community Access shows the program at 9 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month on Channel 16. Finally, Comcast Cable in the Greater Harrisburg area will air the program on Channel 20 with no set time schedule. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
