FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sewage Facilities Grants Awarded to Two Townships, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – About $13,000 in Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants recently were awarded to two townships in Cumberland County, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York) "It's essential that on-lot sewage disposal systems are properly constructed to prevent contamination," Vance said. "This grant assists municipalities with the financial requirements of enforcing sewer regulations to protect the environment for future generations." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for performing state sewage regulations. Those receiving grants are:
The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community on-lot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
