Five Cumberland County Businesses Awarded Energy Efficiency Grants, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – More than $20,000 in Small Business Energy Efficiency Grants recently were awarded to five Cumberland County businesses, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"By adopting more energy efficient practices, each of these businesses are not only becoming more environment friendly, but are also saving money in the long run," Vance said. "I'm pleased the state can assist these businesses in moving to such practices without hurting the companies in these tough economic times."

The following businesses received the grants:

  • Franklin Family Services – $7,150 for purchase and installation of high efficiency lighting and an HVAC replacement upgrade.
  • 36th Street Associates – $5,963 for purchase and installation of high efficiency lighting.
  • TSR Inc. – $5,656 for purchase and installation of high efficiency lighting.
  • Event Central – $1,961 for purchase and installation of high efficiency lighting and motion sensors.
  • Sir D's Catering Inc. – $1,716 for purchase and installation of high efficiency lighting and insulation and construction of build envelope sealing systems.

The grant program enables Pennsylvania small businesses to acquire pieces of equipment that promote energy efficiency through a 25 percent reimbursement grant, up to a maximum of $25,000. It is open to small business owners whose for-profit business or facility has no more than 100 employees and is a separate legal business entity.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
