FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New Cumberland Awarded Sewage Facilities Grant, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – A $19,915 Sewage Facilities Planning Grant recently was awarded to New Cumberland, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "As Pennsylvania works to reduce its nitrogen and phosphorus outputs to comply with the Chesapeake Bay cleanup goals, it is vital each municipality has an up-to-date sewage plan in place," Vance said. "This grant will assist New Cumberland in the cost of creating a current plan." Sewage Facilities Planning Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of the cost of preparing the official sewage plan and revisions to official plans for sewage systems. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community on-lot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
