Vance Announces Sewage Grant for Warrington Township

HARRISBURG – A $2,043 Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently was awarded to Warrington Township, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"While on-lot sewage systems play an important role in waste disposal in many homes, it is vital the system is installed and operating properly to avoid environmental contamination," Vance said. "Inspection and proper permitting is one way reduce possible problems. This program helps pay for personnel to do these important checks."

Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for enforcing state sewage regulations.

The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community on-lot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
