FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sewage Grant Awarded to West Pennsboro Township, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – A $2,510 Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently was awarded to West Pennsboro Township, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "Many homes continue to utilize on-lot systems to dispose of waste," Vance said. "This grant program is important to reduce the financial costs for municipalities overseeing regulations on these systems." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for enforcing state sewage regulations. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community on-lot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
