FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Franklin Township Receives Sewage Grant, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – A $3,706 Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently was awarded to Franklin Township, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "It is important to remember our actions today affect the environment tomorrow," Vance said. "The Commonwealth's sewage facilities law is key to proper disposal of waste without damaging our precious resources. Through this program, we are able to reduce the financial burden place on municipalities to enforce this law." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for enforcing state sewage regulations. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community on-lot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
