FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Vance Show Spotlights Unclaimed Property VaultHARRISBURG – The January edition of the Vance Report will highlight the unclaimed property vault at the Pennsylvania Treasury, said host Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). There is $1.8 billion in unclaimed property being held by the Treasury. The property belongs to individuals, businesses and organizations. A little more than $100 million worth of items were returned in calendar year 2011. "It was stunned to learn $25.2 million in unclaimed property belongs to residents of the 31st Senatorial District," Vance said. "I would encourage everyone to visit www.patreasury.gov to find out if they are among the 1 in 10 Pennsylvanians with unclaimed property." The property includes jewelry, military medals, savings bonds and musical instruments. About 20,000 claims are filed online every month. Vance's show airs on Blue Ridge Communications at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays on Channel 8. Comcast Cable subscribers can view the program on Local Video on Demand (Get Local). Finally, York Community Access airs the program at 9 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month on Channel 16. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
