Money in Your Pocket Campaign
Sponsored by PNC Foundation and Wal-Mart
Low-income workers under the age of 64 can receive free tax
preparation services through the Money in Your Pocket Campaign. Generally those
with a yearly income of $42,000 or less qualify. Last year, volunteers helped
residents obtain a total of $568,759 in refunds through the campaign's Carlisle
location.
The program is available at the following sites in Cumberland County until April 15:
- Employment Skills Center, 29 S. Hanover St., Carlisle – Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-7 p.m., Mondays in February and on April 12.
- Messiah College, 1 College Ave., Frey Hall Room 145, Grantham – Thursdays 6:30-9:30 p.m. (796-1800 ext. 7300)
- AmeriChoice Credit Union, 2175 Bumble Bee Hollow Rd., Mechanicsburg – Fridays noon-4 p.m.
- Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, 53 W. King St., Shippensburg – Mondays and Wednesdays 4-8 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
- BELCO Community Credit Union, 5304 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg – Wednesday 5-8 p.m. by appointment only.
- New Hope Ministries – Tuesdays 6-9 p.m. call for details 232-9757 ext. 133.
Be sure to bring the following:
- Valid picture identification.
- Social Security Card or Individual ID Number (ITIN)
for you, your spouse and any others shown on your tax return.
- Previous year federal and state tax returns.
- Copies of all W-2, 1098 and 1099 (year-end forms you have received in the mail)
- If you wish to deposit your refund directly, you will
need your account number and routing transit number for your financial institution.
- If you expect to claim a credit for child or dependent
care, bring the child care provider’s address and tax ID number.
- If you purchased a home in 2009, please bring your
settlement statement to see if you are eligible for homebuyer credits.
