January 2012 - Holy Spirit Carlisle Center recently added imaging and lab
services to its offerings at its facility on Forge Road in Carlisle. Sen. Pat

Nine finalists and one winner were chosen for the 2011 Leaders of Tomorrow award
presented by CenturyLink and The Sentinel. The award honors area youth in high
school who exhibit outstanding leadership and community volunteerism. Three East

The Cumberland Valley Boys' Water Polo Team visited the Capitol recently in
honor of its 2011 Pennsylvania State Boys' Water Polo Championship. The team
defeated North Penn High School in the title match 6 to 4, finishing the 2011
season undefeated with a record of 28-0. The team and coach Corey Pelow are

The Silver Spring Township Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 11, 2011.
Sen. Pat Vance paused after the dedication for a photograph with two Marine

Sen. Pat Vance recently read to students at Children's School of New Cumberland
as part of Pennsylvania's Promise for Children Month. The commemoration
celebrates quality early education and the families, teachers and leaders that
help young children reach their promise every day. |

Sen. Pat Vance participated in the pinning ceremony for Troop PA at the Capitol
Building. The honorary troop is comprised of women in the Pennsylvania
Legislature. It was the kick-off of Pennsylvania's celebration of 100 years of
Girl Scouting. Vance, who is co-leader of the troop, is pictured on the Rotunda

Dillsburg Farmer's Fair President Carl Shearer shows Sen. Pat Vance entries in
the quilt contest at the 96th annual Dillsburg Farmer's Fair. Sen. Vance’s

Sen. Pat Vance recently hosted the Northern High School Baseball Team at the
Capitol. The team captured the 2011 PIAA State Class AAA Baseball Championship
in June by beating Tunkhannock High School 6 to 3. This was the first team

Sen. Pat Vance welcomed participants in The Warrior Ride to the Capitol on June
16. The three-day rehabilitative and recreational biking event for wounded
service members took place in central Pennsylvania. It is one of several held

Sen. Vance recently welcomed the Cumberland Valley High School Girls Soccer Team
to the Capitol. The team won the 2011 PIAA State Girls’ Spring Soccer
Championship and amassed a record of 26-1. In addition, the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America ranked the team number one nationally at the end

The Cumberland Valley Under 15 Rugby Team won the 2011 Eastern Pennsylvania
Rugby Union State Championship. This is the first state championship in rugby at

Sen. Pat Vance recently assisted the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Cumberland II,
General William Thompson Division, with presenting the President’s Call to
Service Award to Elaine Livas, executive director of Project SHARE. The award is
given to individuals who have completed 4,000 or more volunteer service hours
over the course of their lifetime. Project SHARE provides food, clothing,
nutrition education and links to other community resources for those in need in

Sen. Pat Vance presented Senate citations to the Cumberland Perry Area
Vocational Technical School Residential Construction Management Team for its
first place finish in the high school division of the 2011 International
Builders Show. Each team had to create a complete set of blueprints that could
be used to build a specific house, set a construction schedule, create a labor
and materials estimate and set a selling price for the house. Seated, from left,
