The Silver Spring Township Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 11, 2011. Sen. Pat Vance paused after the dedication for a photograph with two Marine Corps veterans from the township. Pictured, from left, are Frances Clements, Lloyd Clements, Vance and Albert Gaskin. Mrs. Clements, who was a Corps WAVE, met her future husband at Bethesda Naval Hospital while he was recovering from wounds suffered in the battle at Iwo Jima.
